Today, the third Surrey Police Service (SPS) recruit class graduated from the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC), and they will soon be responding to calls for police service in Surrey.

These eleven police academy graduates – six males and five females – are looking forward to providing policing services to the community they have chosen to serve. Collectively, they speak ten different languages and have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to volunteerism. Their accomplishments are equally impressive: from one with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, to another who was a provincial gymnastics champion, to one who was part of the Canadian Red Cross Emergency Response Team. However, what truly distinguishes all eleven recruits is their steadfast desire to join SPS and to devote their policing careers to serving the citizens of Surrey. 

“I want to congratulate these new police officers on their accomplishment as they look forward to long and fulfilling careers here in Surrey,” says Chief Constable Norm Lipinski. “Surrey Police Service is committed to supporting these officers with progressive policing practices, wellness programs, and top-tier training so they are well-equipped to serve this community.” 

There are two other SPS recruit classes currently training at the JIBC and scheduled to graduate in March 2024 and July 2024, respectively.
