As students head back to school each September, remember that road safety is public safety. To keep yourself and families safe through the school year, keep the following tips in mind:

• Familiarize yourself with school zone locations on your normal routes and make sure you follow the school zone speed limits.
• Stay alert when driving or walking - look at your surroundings rather than at your device.
• Parents transporting children to school should use appropriate drop-off locations, which are not in areas where children will need to navigate through vehicles and congestion.
• Parents should review walking routes with children and equip them with a contact number and a plan should they require assistance along the way.
• For students cycling to school, ensure you wear a helmet, and your bicycle is in good operating condition.
